Welcome to everyone who is going to attend our training courses.
I am Mario Meola and I am a researcher and associate professor of Clinical Nephrology at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa.
I manage the ultrasound and color Doppler lab of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Pisa, which I set up long ago, in 1984.
I coordinate the Bedside Ultrasound School of the Italian Society for Internal Medicine, section of Pisa and I have coordinated the advanced school of Nephrology Ultrasound – SIUMB – since 2001.
Over the years, this role has allowed me to train hundreds of young trainees and specialists.
Starting from 2009-10 academic year, I set up two second level masters at the Scuola Superiore S. Anna:
- “Medical sonography and applications in Internal Medicine and Nephrology” currently in its 11th edition
- “The theory and practice of vascular access in the uremic patient” in its 4th edition
Furthermore, I have activated two elective courses (EDA) at the master’s degree course of the University of Pisa:
- ” Comparative ultrasound anatomy of the abdomen”
- “The search for signs. From conventional semeiotics to visual medicine”.
This educational activity aims at spreading the use of clinical ultrasound among the new generations of physicians. It is structured with face-to-face theoretical-practical courses, online simulation and dedicated laboratories
Our courses
The training courses, involving lecturers of national and international value, with rich experience in the field, are addressed to postgraduates and specialists, in all sectors of Internal Medicine.
Scientific forum
This freely available section will be periodically enriched, by the scientific committee members and other collaborators, with clinical cases’ discussions, reviews, annotated reports and bibliographic links. If any topics meet interest, the scientific committee may also provide for the activation of short online seminars
